MELBOURNE, VICTORIA (JULY 25, 2013) – Last night, a packed audience of 2000, including a vast number of celebrities from television, film, sport, fashion and media, celebrated the Melbourne premiere of equestrian spectacular Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse. The opening night in Melbourne marked Cavalia’s 100th performance in Australia since the tour began in Queensland last March. Under the gleaming White Big Top, spectators were thrilled and amazed by the unique blend of equestrian and performing arts. But it was the horses who stole the spotlight during this unique theatrical performance, one which ended with rapturous applause and a standing ovation.

A mix of special guests, including Ron Barassi, Zoe Tuckwell-Smith, Hugh Sheridan, Tim Campbell, Pia Miller, Trent Cotchin, Tex Perkins, Travis Cloke and Stephen Curry enjoyed a night of pure bliss under the world’s largest touring tent. About 400 VIP patrons were treated to a buffet dinner and sumptuous desserts prepared by Cavalia head chef Pierre-Yves Caisse in the Rendez-Vous tent, sipping on beer, wine and champagne.  After the show, they were invited to a stable tour to meet the 48 magnificent horses, followed by a reception at the impressive Cavalia village, capping off the magical Melbourne premiere.

Reflected in the praises of A-list spectators, Cavalia is truly a show unlike any other. Celebrating the relationship between humans and horses, guests are drawn into a dream-like world, as the two and four-legged performers interact on a colossal 50-metre wide stage in front of a constantly changing, 60-metre wide digital projection screen.

After successful seasons in Brisbane and Sydney, the multi-disciplinary spectacular created by the co-founder of Cirque du Soleil, Normand Latourelle, has now officially settled into its new quarters at The Docklands. Following the Melbourne season, the Canadian-based troupe will travel to Adelaide and Perth.

TICKETS For its exclusive season in Melbourne, Cavalia is presented under its signature White Big Top at The Docklands. Tickets are priced from $44.00 to $164.00 + applicable taxes and fees. For guests who desire an extraordinary outing, the show can be customized for an extended experience from $144.00 to $325.00, including a Horse Lovers Package that lets patrons tour Cavalia’s stables after the show, and the VIP Rendez-Vous Package that includes a post-show tour of the stables, a cocktail/dinner reception and much more.
