GOLEGÃ HORSE FAIR: from November 1st to 11th 2013
It’s biggest Horse Fair in Portugal since the year of 1571, which makes Golegã the Mecca of all Lusitano horse lovers.
Golegã Horse Fair takes place annually in the village of the same name, in the heart of Portugal. Characterized by the fertility of their land and the beauty of its landscapes distinctly rural, Golegã maintains the traditional Portuguese architecture with equestrian themes all over the village.
This is the most beautiful and unique equestrian show that celebrates the Lusitano horse, the Portuguese traditional saddlery and costumes (traje).
The fair program this year has lot’s to see: show jumping, horse driving competition, painting and photography exibition, book presentations, seminars, endurance competition, dressage competition, working equitation competition, classical equitation presentations, model and gaits competition, traditional Portuguese equestrian costume ball, procession of Saint Martin’s pilgrims, and much more…
If you go to Golegã dress up with the Portuguese traje, try the local wine “água-pé” and the seasoning warm roasted chestnuts, and get to know more about the Lusitano.
